Frida is playing the Accelerator Festival in Stockholm on June 30. It is one of very few opportunities you will have to see this rare bird for quite a while. So we suggest you do that. And The Concretes do their second to last booked show in Sweden this summer the day before, at Peace And Love in Borlänge. So that too could be something to consider.
2007-06-07
Please vote for The Concretes here to hear Oh Boy on the radio every day next week!

The Concretes' third – and in some ways first – album is out today in Scandinavia! (In the UK in early June, we'll get back to you on that and the rest of the world). It is called Hey Trouble. Press has been on their best behaviour, including 4 stars in both Expressen and Göteborgsposten, a very nice review in Dagens Nyheter (who don't do grades), in Sydsvenska Dagbladet and so forth. Buy it in your local record store or direct from our shop, on digipack CD or as mp3s.
The band also start their Swedish tour this Saturday in Örebro. Check our shows-section for all dates.

Sometimes we just have to brag. We can't help it. This is one of those times. So if you won't take our word for it, take David Bowie's and listen to El Perro Del Mar.
Oh, and by the way, The Concretes version of Graham Nash's lovely 'Military Madness' is up on their Myspace now.
2007-03-14
The Concretes new single Kids is out now! The song is about growing up and putting your faith in music. Or more specifically it's about Lisa and Maria growing up and putting their faith in Maria's brother's record collection. The single comes with three more songs: Another Day To Waste, Reasons (with Maria on lead vocals) and a cover of Graham Nash's Military Madness. Buy it here in the shop or in the mp3 store or in any good record store throughout Scandinavia.
You can also pick it up from Rough Trade (UK, London), Monorail (UK, Glasgow) or Parasol (US). They are all well deserving of your hard earned cash.

The lovely Ugglan, our very favourite venue and also home to our biweekly clubnights, is going through some troubles and has been forced to close down very suddenly. It's only temporary but we are very sad about this turn of events and fingers crossed things will be back to normal as soon as possible.
However. This means that the Action Biker show we had on at the LF Club tonight had to be cancelled. We hope to find a later date to make it up to her. And you. For a short term solution though you are more welcome to come and mourn with us at El Mundo where we'll be DJing tonight. More updates on Ugglan as we get them.
2007-02-28
We've put up another new song by The Concretes in the badly drawn music player to your left and on their Myspace. Kids is the first single from the upcoming Concretes album and it will be available in stores in Scandinavia from March 16 (but wherever you live you can buy it through this site of course). Check back here in two weeks time for more info, full tracklisting etc. Until then, enjoy!
2007-02-25
If you're in the US we strongly suggest that you go and figure out which show with El Perro Del Mar and Frida Hyvönen will be the most convenient for you to attend. Their tours start the 1st and 2nd of March respectively and needless to say you do not want to miss them.
2007-02-20

The Concretes 'Oh No' can now be heard on P3, Radio Stockholm, Studentradion, etc. A ballad on the radio - who would have thought, huh.
And don't miss the new issue of Plan B where there is a huge review of Frida live in London. In the current issue of lovely US mag Under The Radar there's a bunch of Concretes and El Perro Del Mar stuff. Oh, and the first ever time The Concretes and Van Halen share column space can be read here.

Frida Hyvönen Gives You: Music From The Dance perfomance PUDEL is out now! To smashing reviews, we might add. And to celebrate these incredibly good news we've launched an mp3 shop, if you prefer your music to be very mobile and invisible to the human eye. This is also a good place to pick up copies of our other releases, including out of print-formats from The Concretes. In due time, the entire LF catalogue will be available here. For you old-schoolers/artwork fetishers there is a regular shop too as you know. So, off you go, credit card in hand!

Badly drawn music player never rests! Yes, there's a brand new Concretes song to be enjoyed.
The song is called 'Oh No' and it's taken from the upcoming album, Hey Trouble. It is about innocence battling temptation and the reluctance of having to choose sides. The theme reoccurs on the album (hence its name) but it seems the jury is still out on how to win in the end.
The new album, 'Hey Trouble' will be available in the spring. It is produced by Jari Haapalainen and features Lisa on lead-vocals (as well as drums), as one of many results of their recent Musical Chairs adventures.

After the great success at ”Dansens hus” in Stockholm it is time for Dorte Olsen’s dance performce Pudel (Poodle) to take to the road and visit Malmö (Feb 1-2), Lund (Feb 4) and Gothenburg (Feb 7-9). Why are we telling you this you might ask yourself. Well, because Frida has written and performs the music. The show is about real heroines, attraction, sensualism, nostaligia, body, weight, rhythm courage, power, will and, at least to a certain degree, poodles.
Funnily enough, the PUDEL album is out on LF now! As we speak! Well if we speak after Jan 24. It is not to be missed as you can see for yourself here and here and here and here (warning: fluent Swedish required).
Buy it here on the site, in your local record store or at the shows mentioned above.
2007-01-10
Ok, you waited for it and here goes... The Concretes has been nominated in the pop/rock category in the 2007 edition of the Manifest Awards, in their native Sweden. For the whole enchilada, go here

Well, first of all, terribly welcome to Licking Fingers new home! Finally LF is grown up enough to get a place of its own. And right here on the Internet, too. How very 90s of us, huh! Anyhow, don't be shy, come on in and have a look around. It's pretty self-explanatory really. Among the highlights is a shop, filled with music and merch!!! (We only just got here though so give us some time and we'll make it really homely)
Moving on, we are thrilled to announce that:
Also, The LF Club is as usual up to much good. If you want a schedule go to the Club section.
Oh, and while you're here: sign up for the newsletter, why dontcha! It will pay off massively within very short... (In the form of more exciting news, that is. We're not paying you to join).
